'Educational institutions will be closed again if situation worsens'

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said if the situation worsens due to the spread of the Omicron variant, any decision can be taken regarding the closer of the educational institutions.
Minister said this while visiting the HSC examination center at Government Suhrawardy College in the capital Thursday.
She, however, said: “We still do not have any plan to close the educational institutions. The regular activities should be operated as it is undergoing now.”
The Minister expressed hope that the educational institutions will stay opened. “We are monitoring the situation. Discussions are going on with the committee concerned.”
She further said that the government would take the decision as per the situation.
Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education Mahbub Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Syed Golam Faruk, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board Professor Nehal Ahmed and others were present there.
Higher secondary and equivalent examinations have started across the country from 10 am today. Corona situation is being tested for an hour and a half this time.
