Two residential students of Dhaka University (DU) were allegedly beaten up by 10-12 people at Bijoy Ekattor Hall on Saturday morning.
One of the injured students, Akhlaquzzaman Anik told reporters that the attackers were all followers of BCL president of Bijoy Ekattor Hall unit Sajibur Rahman Sajib. "They entered my room around 8.30am and thrashed me badly."
Anik was later taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital by other students and teachers. "My second semester exams are scheduled to be held this evening," he said.
On the possible reasons for the attack on him, Anik said, "Three days ago, one of the attackers went to Suhrawardy Udyan with a female friend. He later claimed that I had abused them ther," reports UNB.
The BCL president of Bijoy Ekattor Hall unit, however, said that the hall administration would take action against the perpetrators of the alleged attack. "We will co-operate with the authorities in their probe."
When contacted, Prof Dr Abdul Bachir said, "I have heard about the attack but not yet received any written complaint from the victims."
